Lightroom 3 Publish Services – Adding Facebook Albums

Over the past several weeks since I published my tutorial on using the new Publish Services in Lightroom 3, I’ve heard reports of people having difficulty with Facebook Publish Services. Specifically, the problems seem to be related to creating Publish Service presets that correspond to Facebook Albums other than “Wall.”

I’ve put together a brief video to demonstrate the process of adding albums for Facebook. I’ve heard rumblings that this process may not work on Macs due to some problem within Lightroom; if you can confirm this I’d like to hear about it (drop me a comment below).

Lightroom 3 – Adding Facebook Albums

  1. Hi Mike, thanks for posting this. Yes, I’m on a Mac but it worked for me. I can’t believe Adobe would make us create separate services for each FB album. I was looking for a way to activate the dropdown box so that I could select whichever album or create a new one on the fly. That was logical to me.

    1. I’m glad you got it working! However, there are still rumblings of this not working on Macs for anything other than “Wall,” so I’ll continue to keep an eye out to see whether it’s true or just a misunderstanding of the process… mh++

  2. All you really have to do is add another collection within the facebook section. It will create it as a new album and then you do your normal drag drop pictures into the collection (and then hit publish of course). This way you don’t have to create a separate service for each album.

  3. Thanks for the Tutorial. I am in the processes of migrating from Aperture 3 to Lightroom 4 and I am pretty disappointed with LR4’s publishing system. Aperture handles separate albums in Facebook and Flickr a lot better than this which is a real shame because since Lightroom is supposed to be the dogs do-dah’s.
Do you think we’ll see an update to their system? it hasn’t really changed between 3 and 4…

    1. I’m surprised we didn’t see anything in LR4 to enhance the existing publish engine. I think there are certainly a lot of opportunities to improve and expand that, we’ll just have to keep our fingers crossed for the future!

  4. Hey Michael,

I’m on a mac + this worked perfectly for me.
    Thank you for sharing!

    Tina.

    1. Tina, thanks for the kind comment. I’m glad this helped!
